We are proud to announce that the garden ‘Mingle’ won 1st Place for the 2024 Best Overall Garden sponsored by Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society of SA. This award was achieved with the help and generosity of so many suppliers which we are truly thankful to (see below).
‘Mingle’ was designed to celebrate the transition between winter and spring.
The garden focuses on the short transitional period between the two seasons, with a planting palette designed to change and evolve as winter becomes spring. Our intent was to create a unified, enduring sense of place that changes throughout each season.
The palette includes native species, perennials and wispy grasses that echo the Australian landscape. Featured are three Malus Floribunda Living Pergola tree’s, at the beginning of the show these feature pink buds that will later emerge and grow as the show progresses, encouraging a sense of place and belonging. The living pergola tree’s provide sculptural form within the garden whilst also providing shade for the seating area when spring eventually transitions to summer.
Locally sourced materials include Shell Rubble Limestone, Osmond Limestone and Fleurieu Dolomite.
The Shell Tuscan Rubble Limestone from South Australia forms a winding retaining wall around the fire pit, elevating the plantings to match the seating area level. The Osmond Limestone fire pit enhances the natural brown tones of the Fleurieu Dolomite, contributing to a cohesive and earthy aesthetic.
With a naturalistic planting approach, the garden seamlessly integrates around the fire pit and the natural materials. This design creates a connection between the fire pit and garden, with planting choices that tie the garden to its surroundings
‘Mingle’ not only reflects these interpretations but fosters a sense of community and gathering. We create landscapes to cater to the many seasons of life and ‘Mingle’ is a celebration of these seasonal changes, bringing together natural beauty and thoughtful design to create warm and inviting senses of place.
A huge thank you to all of our sponsors for their help and generosity who came together to make this all possible, in no particular order:
