Landscape Design

Our design process is carefully phased to ensure every detail is thoughtfully planned. We start by getting to know your lifestyle, needs, and vision for your outdoor space, so we can create a design that truly suits you. Throughout the process, we keep you updated with regular progress reports and meetings after each phase, so you’re always informed and confident in the direction.
Once the design is complete, our skilled in-house team takes care of everything—from council approvals and detailed construction drawings to lighting, irrigation, planting plans, and construction. We also perform site inspections during the build to make sure every detail is executed exactly as planned. Because we manage every aspect in-house, you can enjoy a seamless, stress-free experience from start to finish.
Design Process

1. Consultation
The design process starts with a site visit and initial consultation. The priority here is to obtain a thorough understanding of your aspirations and needs for the garden, as well as getting a feel for the existing space. Following this, a written brief is sent to you, which outlines the fee structure, design process, and a comprehensive summary of your goals for the space.

2. Concept Design
We begin with a detailed site survey to capture the layout, levels, and key features of your space. From this, a 2D concept design is created to explore the overall layout and flow. 3D visuals are available upon request.
Supporting moodboards help define the look and feel, while the focus remains on structure rather than fine details. Once you’re ready to move forward, we provide a digitally scaled concept plan, including planting ideas, materials, lighting, colour palettes, and irrigation concepts — laying the groundwork for your new garden.

3. Developed Design
Produced after the concept design has been agreed, these drawings develop the chosen concept layout into an overall masterplan. Material palettes, spatial arrangements and locations, as well as a planting palette with general character of the planting will be proposed. At this stage we also lodge any council applications- this keeps our process moving forward.

4. Technical Design
Once the masterplan is approved, technical drawings are developed. These include setting out plans, lighting locations, level plans and cross sections, as well as any necessary details for structural engineer sign off.

5. Planting Plan
The planting plan shows the locations of all the proposed plants, along with a plant schedule listing exact names, sizes and quantities used for costing, ordering and setting out plants. A moodboard of all plants is included so that you get a feel for the look we are aiming to achieve, and a maintenance schedule is supplied

6. Construction
Once you’re happy with the master plan and any necessary council approvals are in place, we’ll lock in your spot in our construction schedule.
We’re proud to keep every part of your garden build in-house, with our own team handling the entire process — so you can feel confident that your project is in good hands from start to finish.

How do I obtain a design?
Our design process unfolds in three key stages: Initial Consultation, Concept Development and finalising the design. Throughout this journey, our skilled team remains dedicated to providing top-notch guidance and recommendations to ensure a successful garden design experience.
What takes place during the initial consultation?
Our Director, Jason, will arrange a meeting with you, either on-site or online, to chat about your garden ideas, aspirations, and specific needs. This initial consultation usually takes between 45 minutes to 1.5 hours, and it’s all about getting to know you, your family, and how you envision using your outdoor space. We’ll explore different possibilities for your garden, which will lay the groundwork for your design concept. The consultation fee is $300 (including GST) for on-site visits. Our goal is to give you a sense of the potential for your garden, and from there, we’ll use those ideas to create a tailored design concept for you. After the consultation, we’ll prepare a proposal that outlines the design fee for your garden concept. It’s important to note that these fees do not cover any construction costs.
My house is not constructed yet. Is it still possible to have a design developed?
We strongly advise initiating the design and planning of your landscape at the earliest possible stage to ensure seamless coordination between your indoor and outdoor spaces. This early collaboration with your architect or building designer allows for a harmonious integration of both realms, resulting in a cohesive and well-thought-out living environment.
What is involved in developing the concepts?
Upon your approval of the design fee proposal, our team will proceed with a thorough site analysis. This entails taking precise measurements and capturing photographs of your property to gain a comprehensive understanding of the site’s characteristics. Subsequently, we will embark on the creative exploration of design options. Once we have crafted a design concept that aligns with your requirements and vision, we will present it to you in the form of a concept plan. Your feedback and input will be invaluable at this stage to ensure that the design resonates with your expectations. What is involved in producing the final design?
What is the typical timeframe for completing a design?
The entire process, spanning from the acceptance of the design quote to the delivery of the final plans, typically encompasses a duration of 12 to 14 weeks. Please keep in mind that the specific timeline may be influenced by factors such as the current workload of our team, potential feedback necessary from both the local council and our clients, as well as the occurrence of holiday periods, including public holidays and the Christmas break.
I have a limited space available. Can a design still be created for it?
Certainly, we possess extensive experience in designing a wide range of spaces, accommodating all sizes.
What will be the price of my design?
It’s important to note that each design quote is unique and tailored to your specific needs. The design fee is calculated based on a variety of factors, including the size of your property, any topographical features such as slopes, the intricacy of the design elements chosen, and the amount of time required to develop your master plan. During the initial consultation, we will collaborate with you to establish the scope of your design project, and based on this, we will provide a customized fee proposal that accurately reflects your requirements.
I have my finalplan. What is the next step?
Upon the completion and finalisation of your design plan, we will ensure you have copies of the plan. We will then provide a quote from our Construction team.
